Just Rambling...

It has been an eventful months; first the news of the plane missing. Well it happened and I did not want to get deeply involved with it. Then the starting of water rationing where we get water supply only every two days. I have written about this and happy that the authority are doing their best to get the water supply going on as usual when the water at the reservoir is back to normal. It has start raining since the last one week and it is cool here in Ampang Jaya this morning. With the daily rain I do hope we would get our regular water supply and life would be much easier. Then I got new that a Blogger friend of mine who blog here had just passed away. Read this write-up about the late Bernard Khoo in the Blog Shanghai Fish. It is sad indeed but then that is the way it is with every living species on this planet. When the time comes we go, just like when we first arrived on the beautiful planet call earth. The say when we arrived we cry and that when we go others cry; how true! He was sort of a fighter for democracy and justice using the social media Blog as his mean. Well folks life is like that and his fight would surely be taken over by the young. There would be no end in the fight for equality among man for that is the nature of our world. Well folks that is life and living.

On the left is an image at the Serambi [patio] near my little garden; it the colour, the aroma and the little items of art that does enlighten our lives. So let move on and enjoy life.

Have a nice day.

The Orchid...

We love flowers of all kinds and that includes Orchid. At the small garden at the backyard we grow some orchids which would bloom from time to time. Unlike ordinary flowers Orchid takes a longer time to bloom so one need lots of patience in growing Orchids. Some takes years to show it flower and when it bloom it does made us happy to see that glorious colour in our garden. The garden at the backyard is taken care of by my spouse who nurture the plants with care every morning where should would tend and water the plant. The above flower of the orchid is the result of that nurturing. Orchid last longer if it is not cut. But at time folks cut it to put in a vast to adorn the living room. In our case we just let it flower at the plant and enjoy seeing its vibrant colour whenever we are at the garden. It does make us happy to see all those colourful flowers. True as folks say that Flowers is the Keeper of our joys; yes indeed we are joyous. I believe those of you who look at the image above would be happy too.

Have a nice day.

Water Rationing....

Well folks it already the 3nd of April 2014. In those days we would be playing truant on April Fool days. It was fun indeed but now except for us old folks I believe none of the present generation know what it is all about; it history now. Now let come to the reality of the present world. As it is we are still on water rationing.  Since the beginning of March this year we have been on water rationing; it all because of the long dry spell which is rather unusual in this country. Without much rain the reservoir water level has gone down and down thus the authority had to do water rationing for the population especially to a certain parts of the state of Selangor. I have live in Selangor for more than forty years. I move to Kuala Lumpur in the mid 1972 on a transfer from Malacca. Since living in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor this is the first time that we have encountered such water rationing. Beginning of this month we get water only every two days and go dry for another two days and to me it all right with this arrangement since we could plan our activities to suit the situation. When there is water supply we would keep water in containers enough to be used on the day the tap run dry. We would use the washing machine only during the day when we have water supply. We need the reservoir to be filled up before going back to normal and that required lots and lots of rain. We are now beginning to see rain on and off but I do not think it would fill the reservoir as yet. It needs to shower for days in the catchment areas before more water start to flow into the reservoir.  This kind of situation never happened before and I believe it all because of global warming.

Anyway do have a nice day.

My little abode...

When I first bought my house in Ampang Jaya it was all brick and mortar. I did not like it so over times I tried to change it to a more wooden house. It was not easy and with the budget I got over times I did it and now it no longer look like the original house that I bought in the early seventies. I turn my concrete house into sort of a wooden house and create a small garden in front and at the backyard. There is a huge bush of all kind of greens in front where the gate is. So my whole house is like a little garden and it does kept the house cool. I no longer slept in an air-conditioned room to keep me been dehydrated and thus healthy. We all must give due respect to the greens for without the green the whole living species on this planet would perish. Why you may ask. The answer is that as we all know pretty well that all living species need energy to live and that energy comes from the Sun. It is the Plants that convert that Sun's energy into foods that we could consume to get that energy from the Sun. So folks just a gently reminder; plant greens around your house or anywhere and give due respect to it for without it we all would be banished from this planet.

Have a nice day.

25 years of the WWW....

  • March 12, 2014 is the 25th year of the World Wide Web or WWW. It was an invention by Sir Tim Berners-Lee. I am glad I got to witness the development of the Internet during my lifetime. I was born when there was no Running water, Electricity or Radio and of course no Telephone. The fastest way to send news was to send a message by Telegram. When our first child was born in 1963 I send a telegram from Kuantan to Bentong informing my in law of the arrival of our first child. In the Kampong message was send using the Bedok [hollow wooden trunk hanging by rope and beat with a stick to create sound] or by walking from one place to another. Since the arrival of the internet to this country (1995) when I got connected I have live in two worlds; the virtual world and the physical world. As I move forward I found I can no longer live in one world. Now I live and breathe in both worlds all the time and I am enjoying it. It does improve the quality of my life. Everyone of Malaysian arrive into this new world of ours at the same time, so there is no excuse for any one group to say they are at the disadvantage. We Malaysian are now on a level playing field. The economic benefit is great so there is no reason for all Malaysian not to be able to prosper together. Even the ordinary fisherman is getting the benefit of using the Internet. For example a fisherman could negotiate the price of its catch while at sea using the cell phone. The fisherman catch fish and while out there could contact the buyer on his smart-phone with image. He can keep the fish fresh in the water until the buyer want or arrive. Fresh fish fetch better price. The same goes with other commodity. Children with tablet in the third world can access information in the virtual world. Learn language by watching YouTube and other media. The advantages are numerous and I think the invention of the Internet is  the greatest invention of mankind, second only to the invention of the wheel.

    Have a nice day.
