A Bowl of Fruits...

Fruits are part of our daily delight. It is the best source of nutrition for our daily needs. For that there is always a bowl of fruits in our kitchen. Above is a bowl of such fruits. During the fruits season in Malaysia that bowl would be full of tropical fruits. As for now we have imported fruits which are always 'in season' here. Globalization and trade and commerce have made it easy to get imported foods on our table everyday of the year. To keep us healthy especially in our golden years we have changes our diet with less meat but more Fish, Vegetables and Fruits. For meats we would go for white meats only but would still take red meat like beef or mutton at feast but we try to go for white meat if it is possible. We would go for Seafood only on special occasion. At the same time we would take more vegetables or fruits juices to get a balance diets. Been in the golden years we have to be careful of what we eat since our body resistance is not it used to be and the best way to stay health is to enjoy healthy foods.

That Oranges...

Above is a close-up image of an orange that shows the juiciness of this wonderful fruits of the citrus family. It gives us all the vitamin C that we need to protect us from certain sickness and kept us healthy all the times. But have we ever thought of how this wonderful fruit could be on our table everyday of the years and delighted us with its goodness.

So for this posting I would like to give gratitude to all those workers who made this possible; from the growers to the pickers who sweats in the sun and everyone else involved in getting this fruits onto our tables, thus giving us the pleasure of enjoying this wonderful fruit, the Orange. I say Thank You folks, for without your contributions we would not be able to enjoy it. With globalization we in the tropic get to enjoy the fruits from the temperate region and those in the temperate region could also enjoy the exotic tropical fruits from this region.

We live in a wonderful world and could continue to do so if we appreciate the contributions of all those who made that possible. Let me say this, that I did enjoy the fruit as shown in this image. You Madam/Sir could have contributed in giving me that pleasure of enjoying it. Thank you and do have a nice day.

The light...

Folks, on that March 28, just before 8:30PM the telephone rang and it was our youngest grandson seven years old Azib calling to remind me that I had to switch off the light. I listen to his giggle and I smile and thought that what a way to remind Grandpa of this important event that is going to happen all over the world come 8:30PM tonight. I replied that I would do that when the time come and thank him for reminding me. Happy he put down the phone. He had told me earlier that he would switch off the light for one hour from that time. I am indeed glad that kids of this generation understood the important of doing the right things at such a early age. So folks it was really nice to see most home at our neighbourhood switch off the light for one hour on that evening.

After switching off the light at our home I went outside to look at the scene of the city. Sure enough the two landmark of Kuala Lumpur, the Petronas Twin Towers and the KL Tower are totally dark tonight. So are most of the tall buildings in the city. Great we all did it this time and I believe all the major cities all over the world are doing the same. Indeed it is great to see that we the citizen of the world could cooperate on such a project, in a small way to save our planet by conserving energy. Let us do it again and again our own way by not switching light that we do not really need, thus it not only save our planet but our money as well.

I do felt great that our kids and grand kids are in this together. Have a nice day.

Fruits fusion..

For today let just admire these images from our kitchen. It has to do with globalization. The translucent vase is designed in Sweden and made in China. The fruits: The pears are from China, the apples and the oranges are from the US. It sort of found its way into our kitchen in Ampang Jaya, Malaysia. Well that is our world today. Enjoy. Globalization.....

No these images are not from New York, Boston, LA or London.... These Images might looks the same but the places are different and in a different part of the world.. In this case it is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia... All these images are at the One Utama Shopping Complex at Damansara, Kuala Lumpur.. I took these images using my Nokia cell phone. That my friends is part of globalization....The making of a global culture of a sorts. It is happening whether we like it or not...Remember the story of a Japanese kid as related by Thomas L.Friedman in his book The Lexus and the Olive Tree...It was the kid first visit to LA with her mother..It seem on arrival she saw some of the images I mentioned above and she look at her mom and utter " Look Mom they also have Big Mac"!..Well it look like she is right or was She right?...It is rather difficult to give a true answer..She was right from her point of view!...Our world is getting smaller day by day and I hope Like all those images above, we would have the images of peace and harmony all over the world as well... We in this country are indeed blessed to be in one of the peaceful place in the world...Friends let make 'Peace' contagious and let it spread all over the world...We who live in a peaceful environment know best what it is like to live in a peaceful country....So let us do our bits in making this world of ours a better world to live and enjoy life... Let spread the message of Peace....'
