The Ulam....

It was a beautiful Saturday I decided to go to the wet market at Datuk Keramat to buy fish, seafood, vegetable and  poultry. I do that once a fortnight. This time I did not drive but instead ask our daughter's driver to take me there. At nine on that beautiful morning he drove me there. While he looks for a parking spot I went to get those things that I have come to buy. Since most of the folks who sell here are now my friends I had just to go to each stall and order the fish or other seafood or the poultry rest assured that those that I bought are of quality. I went from one stall to another and made the order and then move to buy some greens and herbs that my spouse has ask me to buy. Array of the Ulam [local salad] and other vegetables and herbs are beautifully arranged for sale. I bought a few and collect the fish, poultry and the seafood that I had bought and put it in the boot of the car. And went home happy with the purchases. Above are some of the Ulam and herbs that are displayed for sale at the market. An interesting array of  fresh vegetables and herbs indeed.

Have a nice day.

Of the date 11-12-13...

Well someone mentioned on Facebook that today December 11, 2013 is a special day. It is 11-12-13 and that it only happened once in 823 years. Well it is not always we get these numbers coming along like that. When I was in school there was a date that I remember well indeed. It was May 5, 1955 and we wrote happily in our excise book as 5-5-55.  Well it was one of those days in our lives and could easily be remembered. I was then fifteen years old and was in Form three and still enjoying my schools days oblivious of the happening in the real world. In 1957 I took the most important examination in my school life and that was the Cambridge School Certificate. In 1958 with the Form V certificate I start to work in the government service as a clerk. In those days not many talk about going to the university so it was natural that kids like us went to work eager to start making money on our own. That folks start my journey of life as an adult.

Have a nice day.

The Monsoon on the East-Coast...

The North-east monsoon is in full swing on the east coast of Malaya. Most areas and towns on the east coast states of the Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan are affected by the monsoon and flooded. From the news it look like the flood this year is very bad indeed. I call my sister there and was told that the water-level at her home at Bukit Setongkol is above the knee level. She had move to live for the time being at one of her daughter's house nearby. Well during this period of the year it often floods but this year it worse than before. From what I saw on the TV and the posting on Facebook it look like the authority was not prepared with the large home that was flooded and folks had to be excavated to relief centre. Folks who were move to the relief centre were disappointed and unhappy with the kind of help during such emergency. It is an annual occurrence and the authority should by now be professional in such a relief programme but it look like it was not so. I do hope they learn from these experiences and do a better job the next time. Back in Ampang Jaya, Selangor the weather have been wet too and it does kept the temperature down. It has been raining and drizzling all throughout the day and night and so far there's no news of flooding and I do hope it stay that way.

The Demise of Nelson Mandela...

The greatest statesman of our time passed away in Johannesburg  today December 6, 2013 at the age of  95 years old. No one in the known history who has gone through such pain after been jailed for 27 years but Nelson Mandela and came out of it with a forgiving heart. That  is his greatest strength, FORGIVING. Thus with that strength he became the greatest leader that ever walk this earth. Before him there was Gandhi but he raised above all and to me he is the greatest statesman of all times. I do hope that there are other leaders who would learn from his leadership quality and provides the worlds of ours with such quality leadership like what Nelson Mandela did.  Condolence to his family.

A cool December day...

It a cool December day; it has been raining for the last twenty four hours. It is like that at this time in December when the north-east monsoon bashes the east coast of Malaya. The east coast at this time is experiencing heavy rain with storm and many areas would be flooded. Had it not been for the mountain-range that divide the east coast and the west coast of this peninsular the heavy rain and storm would blast this part of the country as well. Anyway it rain in the Kelang Valley too. I grew up on the east coast and love the rain so I do welcome the rain and enjoy the cool weather at this time of the year. This morning when the rain stop I went out to do some errant. Send the laundry for ironing, got a haircut as well got some grocery for the week.  In an hour after that got home, took my lunch and now sitting here writing this.

Have a nice day.
