Little wonder in the garden...

It is the first of April folks. In those days we would be playing April fool but now that things have change, so is the culture of jokes. With that there are no more April fool jokes like we are used to in those bygone days. Anyway, let start this beautiful day with this posting that in someway do colors our lives, the flowers.

Last Saturday we decided to visit the park at the Taman Tasik Ampang Hilir. This new park is just two kilometers away from our home. On arrival we found there are many people already enjoying themselves jogging or just playing with their kids on the lawn. The weather was gorgeous with clear blue sky all over and with the cool breeze from the lake it was a perfect place for an enjoyable evening. My spouse and our daughter Lin went to jogs around the lake while I decide just to laze around and enjoy the fresh air. I had brought my camera along then went scouting for some object to photograph, sort of an adventure with my camera in this wonderland of nature.

In a garden this large there are many plants and flowers everywhere one look. So I just walk along and saw that little lily like plants that blooms three colors of flowers. There are the usual white and the purple one but here I saw the not that familiar color which is Yellow. So I decided that this would be my subject of today's macro photography. These little lilies like plant grows on both sides of a pathway and it did beautify the sideways. Those folks who have no interest of plants and flowers would not see it as it is just a small plant but to those curious eyes who love flowers like me, that rows of plants did attract my attention. I sat down as close as possible to the flowers and take a number’s of snaps. Above are the flowers as seen through the macro lens.

Pak Idrus,

The other day I walked around taking pictures of flowers using my 18-200 walkabout lens. The results weren't very satisfactory for the smaller flowers. My conclusion was that I need a REAL macro lens like the one you're using! Sigh... there's no end to the costs of our hobby, eh?

I have to agree with Howard, lah, Pak Idrus - after seeing all your beautiful close-ups of pretty little flowers. There's just no way my camera can do that! So, I need a nice camera like yours, with the macro lens feature as well :)

Howard, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.

Well, we cannot have it all in using one lens. When I was using the Digital Camera with an extended lens I thought that would be it and I could take closeup as well but it does not really work, so I bought the DSLR and tried using the closeup icon [the tulip] to take closeup images and it does not works to perfection.

So after reading all I could about getting a great shot of the micro images one had to use a Macro Lens and eventually I go the Macro Lens and am enjoying it now as you can see that the images I got using the Macro Lens are indeed better than before that.

Well, it look like you have to get that Macro Lens and see the world in a different perspective.

Have a nice day.

At the beginning of my adventure into photography I was thinking like Howard too but as I had narrated to Howard it does not works that way. We have to get different lens for different uses and most including me did not know of the existence of the Macro Lens and only when I read about photography that I realized that without the Macro Lens one could go so far only and would not be able to get to the Micro aspect of photography. And only when I use the Macro Lens that I found there are another world out there. So go ahead and join me into this adventure of photography.

Have a nice day.

Yes if only we care to take a closer look at nature in our surrounding we would get to enjoy what nature had to offer. The greens in all shades, the flowers in all colors and sizes, the bushes and the climbing plants that makes our lives as colorful and never dull.

There are plenty to appreciate and enjoy. I did that and been enjoying nature all the while.

Have a nice day and take care.
