Gardening...

I love gardening. Every morning without fail I would be in my Little Garden in front of my patio. To fill the Bird/Squirrel Feeder with foods and feed the fish in the small pond. Then I would weed the pots and at time change the water in the fountain. Clean the whole garden and then water all the plants. It a ritual that I love to do and am enjoying it. At time I would spend hours there and sometime got lost of times  as well. It is so refreshing to see all the greens in a lush condition and the flower blooming well. It does made my day.

Have a nice day folks.

A break from Blogging...

On March 31st 2015 I went for a surgery to remove gallbladder-stone at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital. I am now recuperating at home. The first week had to do with non-solid food and then on the second week start taking solid food but without any fat.  At the same time I had no appetite to eat thus I became weak.  As of today I have not got back my full energy but gaining strength by days. I believe because of my age it would take a longer time to regain all my energy and continue to live a normal life. Well folks like if like that. Take care.

The Garden...

I love gardening. It has been a passion of mine since I was a kid. So when I retired I decided to turn the front of my patio into a little garden of my own. It just a small one but it has everything that a garden should have. So as to create an ecosystem that would attract the little animals and insect to the garden I had grown some trees including a bamboo bush which turns a part of the garden into a little jungle. To attract birds and small animals like squirrel and civet cat I hang a tray of food so that it would come from time to time to eat. The first thing in the morning I would put an assorted of foods like banana, apples and bread in the tray. Now I could watch the birds and the squirrels come and go to enjoy its meals. At time civet cat would come too. Now it is normal to see these birds and small animals come and go throughout the days to enjoy the food there oblivious of us watching it.

 Have a nice day.

Of Belimbing Buluh...

Belimbing Buluh is a tropical fruits. It tree grows easily in any soil condition thus folks would just grow this tree in near their houses. Since the fruits could not be easily obtained in the marketplace it at time became difficult to get it when one want to use it in traditional cooking or for the making the Belacan paste with this fruits. It is a very sour fruits and the tree bears fruits all throughout the years especially during the hot season. So when the tree bears fruits the whole three would be full of these little green fruits. Because it is very sour and acidic it is not eaten right like one does with other fruits. So folks would use it in Sambal Belacan [Shrimp paste sauce] or in the cooking of tradition curry especially as a sauce for the famous Nasi Dagang. In the state of Pahang folks there would turn the fruits into a Sambal Hitam [Black sauce] which could be kept for a long time and use as an appetiser. About is an image of one way of using this sour fruits to add flavour to a traditional dish. It is call Tumis Belimbing Buluh. It goes real well with steamy white rice and I loved it.

Have a nice day.

Abdullah School Kuantan 1957...

Above is a group photo of the students of  Abdullah School in Kuantan, Pahang;  the English School that I went to study in 1948 from Primary to Secondary school except for the last six month in form V.  In the mid of 1957 the Form V students were move to a new Secondary school call Abu Bakar School. This new school is at Alor Akar and very far away from my home in Tanah Putih. So it was a daily ritual of cycling to and fro from the house to the school. In a way it was a new experience as before that the Abdullah School is near to my house and I just walk to school. It was at the Abu Bakar School that I sat for the Cambridge School Certificate as well the new Malayan School Certificate examination. I start schooling in a Malay School at Jalan Gambut when the school was open in 1946 after the war. Well folks that is part of the history of my life.

Have a nice day.
