An image to ponder...

I took this image of my patio sometime ago and am sharing it here for all to enjoy. Part of the woodwork here is of my own creation. This is my kind of photography that I enjoy snapping from time to time. Have a nice day.

Pak Idrus,
Salam. Love the 'papan congkak', we had one at my grandma's house but not as nice as this one. The 'terompah' is lovely too - the common ones are so boring.

Salam Pak Idrus.

NanaDJ, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.

The Congkok in the image is made from solid wood block and since I love those woodwork that is a piece of artwork I bought it for my collection. In those days most Malay houses have one of this game board and the folks would play it for hours.

The Terompah is for use and well as for display and I choose to just display it to enhanced the environment of my Serambi.

Have a nice day.

louis, thanks for the visit and the good words on my kind of photography.

That Congkak in the image is made from solid wood. It is a work of art of the Indonesian which I thought is a good piece to add to my collection. Indeed a fine piece of woodwork.

Have a nice day.

mamadou, thanks for the visit and the good words on my kind of photography. I am glad that you enjoy that image.

I believe the Congkak or some other similar games originated from the Indian subcontinent and spread to all over the world. This piece in the image is made in Indonesia, probably Bali and I found it one of the shop nearby but and bought it to add to my collection of fine woodwork.

Have a nice day.

Pak Idrus,
That is a lovely piece of art work-when I was a kid chongkak was one of my favorite game and I was good at it. Do you know that the archeologist found the evidence that Chongkak was played way back in 6th century in Ethiopia.
Now I play Chongkak also known Mancala on my computer. Thank you for sharing it with us.

They are not there. But I'm just imagining, two young Malay girls, in their "kebaya" dress, sitting in "bersimpuh" position, playing the congkak.... Salam.

Temuk, thanks for the visit and sharing your colorful thoughts on this posting.

Happy that you got connected to the congkak. Yes I could visualized the young ladies there too. So demure in their kabaya, unlike today with the tudung, sweet and lovely. Well what is reality, saw the movie Matrix.

Have a nice day.
