Magnificent Sight @ Kuantan...

After that grandiose episode of the sunrise at the beach at Teluk Cempedak and a short trip to Kemaman using the country road we got back to the hotel in town. As I was gazing through the window on the fifth floor of the Vistana Hotel on that beautiful Saturday afternoon I saw the sight like that of a painting on canvas; that of the sun rays penetrating the clouds over the town. It was a magic moment in time, a mystic of sort. What a magnificent sight. For a second it was beyond one’s comprehension. That one does not often see. Indeed a golden opportunity to watch such a brilliant display of the sun over the town. I wasted no time and snap a number of shots of that pictureque sight.

Here are some shots that I am sharing with all to ponder and admire of what nature had to offer in that short moment in time. Fascinating is it not. It is not always one get the opportunity to watch such a display of the sun. These images was take between 5:31PM and 5:33PM on March 7, 2009. Much as I had enjoyed taking the pictures I hope that those who visit my site would enjoy it as well. Have a nice day.

Exactly a week after you took the beautiful shots I was on the beach at T. Cempedak enjoying the lovely cool evening watching the sun going down.

It was a most relaxing and soaking-in-the-holiday kind of ambiance that makes visits to Kuantan so memorable and looked-forward to.

But the trip back to KL was marred by a bunch of big-bikers who behaved as though the roads were built for them and them only. They came at sonic speeds up upon you from behind, weaved in and out of traffic, and, on occasions squeezed in just feet away from the motor car bumpers as they showed their dare-devilry. These were not your garden variety mat rempits since they had huge bikes, were geared up in riding outfits that would have cost at least a week of the SYABAS CEO's salary; but their antics were just as effective in intimidating other road users into giving way as they made way for these maniacs.

To add insult to injury, they could zoom past the toll-booths without having to pay after terrorizing those who had to. Thats the reward, I suppose, for giving the finger to the highway codes and laws of the country.

I do not know what is it that makes these people think they have the right to behave the way they do, but not one was stopped for endangering the lives of other road users by the conveniently absent cops. Maybe they were well connected to the powers of the land so laws do not apply to them. Such invincibility and talents on public roads must surely make them really proud.

I have seen bigger bikers often on the highways during my sojourns in US but not once have I seen them displaying such heroic behavior as our local talents. And I don't think it was just because of strict enforcement by the cops but it was just basic courtesy, respect, and consideration for others.

Thanks for the pics.

Mr Bojangles, thanks you sir for the visit and the good words on this posting as well as sharing your thoughts on your great day at Teluk Cempedak.

That bay indeed has its kind of charm and one always enjoy the time spend there. Ever since I first stood on that beach I had always stay fascinated with it until now, thus my visit from time to time. Glad that you enjoy those images that I took.

As for that happening on your back to KL, sorry about that. It is one of those things we would see from time to time from folks who do not regard the Highway as a mean for traveling to and fro but for racing instead. But then that is the nature of a section of our species and they found the Highway as their place to brag and show off their wheels to others for at the time of 'youth' some time youth do things without thinking that what they did are not only dangerous to themselves but to others as well. Well, it look like we now need those Police Highway Petrol like in the west to take care of such incident. But then as usual we are still with the old mindset despite now that we have Highway rather then mere country road. I hope that as we progress there are more policing done for the good of everyone.

BTW I did saw a group of them when I drove back from Temerloh on a day trip last Sunday. Well, that is youth and I could only hope for the best to them.

Have a nice day.

Covert_Operations'78, Ee Lynn thanks for the visit and the greeting. Thanks as well for sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.

Indeed a second do made the differences in getting such shots. I learned that one must be prepared for whatever eventuality in photography. And it worth to be vigilant. Most of the time such scene does not repeat itself. So that moment in time was indeed a gift of sort.

I am glad that you enjoy those images.

Have a nice day.

Pak Idrus!

I am so impressed that you got all these great shots from a humble D60!

Covert_Ops78 said it best, it's all about patience and timing. And an appreciation for aesthetics helps of course.

BTW, did you ask Pak Adib if he had attended the Selangor MTB event? I was looking out for some blogger-types but found none. Perhaps it was so poorly promoted. A good thing too or else I would have been relegated to last place, ha ha.
