The Demise of Louis Michael Sellier of Seattle...

We are in a shock of this news. Folks it is not easy to write this and like me his friends all over the world would want to know. I had to gather strength to write this as soon as possible. Let me begin like this, our friendship start years ago in blogsphere. He use to visit my blog and often posted comments. We then graduate to communicating by emails. We exchange notes and discuss many things about living. Been almost of the same age; He was two years older than me, we eventually became close friend, more like a relative than a friend. I told him to blog and eventually he did. This is his blog Hopscotch. In the summer of 2008 we met in person in Seattle. Asmah, our daughter Lin and I met his wonderful spouse Elena and we had a great time with them while visiting Seattle. Our contact was never lost even a week, email and later on Skype made the contact much easier but when the contact was lost I began to worry. Then friends too were worried; It not like him not to reply to email, so I continue to write and got a friend Rita Ho in Seattle to help but to no vial. I look at all his posting in his Blog hoping to find an email of his kids but still there was no email to be found. I then thought of writing to a stranger Blogger who posted comment in his blog. I got an instant reply from blogger Guanaguanare of Trinidad that he too was worried and has lost contact. He like me did a frantically check on the net and then he gave me the URL to the blogger Richernandez; the Sweetlime. Reading it I felt the pang of sadness of the death of Louis but as yet to get a confirmation. Fortunately there was an email address of his daughter in that blog posting. I wrote to her immediately and this is part of her reply
''Regrettably, terribly, it is true that my father passed away on March 16 as a result of a fall he suffered while visiting friends in Arizona. So very unexpected, and all the more tragic an accident because of my mother's passing earlier this year''.
That confirmed. I told the others, among the many this Blogger Ee Lynn and now writing this. Well folk we came and then we go, for that is part of living. Louis was a good man and more than a friend to Asmah and Me and we do miss him dearly. Good-bye my dear friend, May you Rest in Peace. Amen.

Thank you, Idrus, for sharing some of your memories of Louis. I am grateful to hear all our accounts about how he touched our lives and to find always that the common thread was his goodness. Special thanks to you also for introducing Louis to blogging. Some of us would not have met him otherwise!
Blessings
Guanaguanare

Pak Idrus...it is a stark reality people of our age must face. Louis would want you to continue spreading goodness thru your blog. That is the best way to remember him because you started him on blogging. Requescat in Pace, Louis. I am sure your life must have been enriched, knowing and meeting Pak Idrus.

Pak Idrus,
Louis was such a special person, so much kinder, wiser, gentler, purer and better than even the best of people. He will never know how much he had touched our lives. Thank you for this tribute. It feels better knowing I am not the only one missing him so much.
Take care, Pak Idrus and Makcik.

Oh...I'm so touched by everyone's comments. My Father could write so elegantly, and he so dearly loved connecting to friends around the world through various blogs, Skype and other electronic means (although traveling and face-to-face contact was always Dad and Mom's preference). We have been so devestated by these unexpected losses this year...I'd never imagined a life without my loving and supporting parents. One of my new pasttimes is going through blogs such as yours and reading past postings from Dad. I can almost hear his voice as I read them, and it brings me such peace, as have your kind thoughts.

Warmly,

Lise Sellier Fitzpatrick (daughter of Louis)

Guanaguanare, thanks for the visit and the good words and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.

Well, had it not been for your instance reply to my inquiry of what has happens to our good mutual friend Louis, we both would still be wondering in the dark as to the whereabouts of Louis. I just took a chance to communicate to a total stranger in you and voila my intuition was right. And with that we did solved this mystery. It was a sad news indeed but at least we did put it to a closure of that wondering minds of ours.

Thanks to the Internet we at last solved this mystery of the day. Now that you are no longer a stranger, we should continue exchanging information and ideas that I hopes would benefit everyone who visited our blog.

Thanks and do have a nice day. Take care.

Zorro, Bernard thanks for the visit and sharing your valuable thoughts on the subject of this posting.

Yes at this age the news of death of a loved one or a close friend is quite normal but whatever it is we are at time still shock when the unexpected happens, like what has happened to my good friend Louis.

Thanks to the Internet with help from fellow bloggers we had managed to know what really happens and put a closure to our inquiring minds. As a blogger yourself blogging has brought us very close to each other and when thing like this happens we often received it with great sadness.

The Late Louis was such a wonderful friend to have around and Asmah and I do felt the lost but then that is life and we all should accept that our time on mother earth is just but a speck of time and when the time comes we too would go, just like Louis.

Take care.

Lise, thanks for the visit and the good words. Thanks too for sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.

Well, Your dad was someone special in our lives. To me we were destine to meet and among the many Malaysian Blogger I believe I am the only one who have met him in person. How can a total strangers from two continents met and became such close friend I at time just had to wonder.

Both of us believe that we are a spiritual being and as such we could communicate in that plane too. Maybe we did communicate in that plane and with the arrival of the Internet we move that communication into the Internet, thus later on when we met in person in his city of Seattle and in his beautiful home and met your mom; that meeting was just like meeting old friends. With my daughter Lin and my spouse Asmah we did had a wonderful exchange of information and ideas with both your dad and mom in that warmth atmosphere of the living room. That image of us in that cozy living room is as vivid as ever.

We are of almost the same age and our experiences of life were almost identical and I was really happy to have met your Dad and in the process your Mom, both full of wisdom. Asmah and I do miss both of them.

Take care.

Pak Idrus,

I am in shock and saddened by the news of Louise passing (and also of his wife). If you remember, you were the one who gave him my e-mail address so that he could write to me i.e. before he had his blog. Before that he had read my blog and thought it was interesting. Thus I got to know him, a very funny, friendly person with many similarities in our educational background. I will surely miss him.
Thank you Pak Idrus for your posting.

Hjh Nazli Abbas, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting. Like you I too felt sad indeed and I just could not understand why his kids did not browse his blog which could be seen all over the world. Had they done it they would have seen our comments posting in their dad's blog, thus they could have contact us via our own Blog or our email which in most cases are there in our Profile.

It was only after a frantically search with fellow bloggers that we had managed to know of his demise, which happened more than a month ago.

Well, life is like that; Take care.

Hello, I'm Louis' oldest granddaughter. You might've known his wife was Mexican; I've been conducting my own little Dia de los Muertos celebrations the past two years in honor of her and other lost family. Last year I read through Grandad's blog, and this year I'm combing through all the blogs of people who knew him for more snippets to help me know him as an adult. Thank you for this moving letter in his honor. It makes me happy to know how many others knew and loved him.
