A breakfast outing....

Time passes so fast nowadays. This happen a few Sunday ago. To be exact it was Sunday the 9th July. Wake up early to another beautiful day. That beautiful Sunday morning we went for a breakfast do, together with the other members of the Kelab Volvo Klasik. This time the breakfast would be at the NZ Restaurant at Wangsa Maju, not far from our place. I have decided to sponsor this breakfast gathering today. Got up early and clean the Volvo classic, so that it would really look great among the other Volvo that would be there at the breakfast site this morning. After getting my Volvo done, got dress up and together with my spouse and three of the grandchildren left for Wangsa Maju. The grandchildren love to go on a short excursion like this and would surely enjoy the breakfast. Since I am organizing the Breakfast do today, I had to get to the site early before the others arrived..The other members are been told to gather at the Merdeka Square at eight in the morning. Together with my spouse and the three grand children we left the house at eight thirty and head for Wangsa maju.

Before that I call the person in charge of the gathering at the Merdeka Square as to their position now and was told that many cars had arrived and they are still waiting for the others to arrive before proceeding to the Wangsa Maju. They would assemble again after the toll boot on the elevated Highway and then take the Jalan [road] Jelatek to Wangsa Maju.. A senior member of the club, a former army colonel by the name of Col.Lee would lead the convoy of the Volvo classic. With him doing that I was confident that everyone would get there and not lost on the way. After about twenty minutes I arrived at the NZ Restaurant, parked my car and went to organized a place for the breakfast do. While waiting our grandchildren and my spouse, their grandma order the usual breakfast. i.e. The teh tarik, tosei and roti canai.. I look around to see whether the convoy of Volvo cars had arrived and while doing that got a call from a member whom I am yet to meet.. A club member and a stranger to me...

Well two days before that I was at Ampang Point and was parking my Volvo Classic and just after got it right into the lot and out of the car. I found there standing beside my car, a young fair lady admiring my classic and said that they had one just like that and it is at the workshop now.. As usual with me I got into conversation with her and one thing leads to another.. People who own classic cars have some sort of a chemistry and often we click. She had a funny accent and could speak a little bit of Malay and good English.. I wonder!! For she could not be Chinese, she did not look like one, so I ask her where she is from and she replied that She is a Japanese and married to a Malaysian. Her husband now work at one of the five star hotel in the city. Well as usual with me we continue talking and as the time pass on I told her that I am inviting the Volvo Classic club's members to breakfast Sunday the 9th July, at the NZ Mamak Restaurant at Wangs Maju and would love if she and her spouse could come along. We exchange name cards and I move on to get going with my daily ritual at this shopping area, near our house..

Where was I before I was lead away into another subject along the way. Well I remember now. I was at the NZ Restaurant waiting for the other members of the KVK club to arrive for the breakfast do that Sunday morning. Oh Ya! The telephone call from a stranger whose spouse I met a few days earlier. I told him where we were and invited them to come on and join the breakfast... As I was talking to him, the convoy of Volvo classic start to arrived. I guided them to park their cars and them brought them to the table already arranged for them. In the mean time our new friends also arrived.. We shake hand and introduce them to the others. With everyone had arrived for the breakfast, we all sat to order the type of breakfast we like. like 'roti canai' tosei, nasi biani' and the other delicious foods available at his large Mamak Restaurant...

Since this is the World Cup season, the whole restaurant complex were decorated with banners and bunting all over the area. Two large TV screen were set up for those that patron this place in the evening to enjoy watching the live telecast of those program.. As usual in a gathering like this we saw a joyous mood in everyone.. We chat while enjoying the breakfast with almost everyone enjoying their foods with a hot steamy teh tarik. Malaysia would never be without the Teh Tarik [Specially prepared tea with condensed milk served hot in glass]. We share jokes in between enjoying the breakfast. And with everyone finished their breakfast and having nothing else to talk about this morning, we decided to call the day off with a promise to gather again in another breakfast do, at another place some other time. It was indeed a great day where everyone with their families enjoy the event. To me and my spouse it was indeed a great day indeed...We then left for home satisfied with what life had offered..

The Elephants Sanctuary....

A friend suggest that we visit the Elephants Sanctuary at Kuala Gandah at Lanchang in the district of Temerloh, Pahang.. It is about one hundred kilometer away from Kuala Lumpur and would take about a hour drive. So around just before noon on last Thursday together with my spouse and a friend, we drove to the Sanctuary. And arrived there all excited to see these wild life in what folks here say 'Up close and Personal' Unlike the Zoo, the animals here are brought in and care for under a protection program run by the Malaysian Wildlife and National Parks Department. I had seen a documentary on our TV and was hoping to see the real thing in person. Well, as seen in the images above that I took except the one showing me on the elephant,we all did really had a great time there. Personally I was delighted to have the opportunity to ride on an elephants and play with two of the babies elephants in the river nearby... It was indeed a great day well spend. Read on about this on the Sanctuary...

Wild flowers....

In the days of my childhood, Senduduk plant with its purple flowers are a familiar scene in the bush around the house. The plant grows wild and would give beautiful purple flowers all the year round. The young buds are hard and we would use it as bullets in our bamboo pistol, a home made gun of a sorts that were use by children in the village to play gun fighting. A sorts of make real world of the children in the days where the computer games were unheard of. The young berries would burst into fruits the color of violet and we as a child would eat it and our tongue would turn violet. Folks in the Kampong [village] says that this plants has medicinal properties and are use in traditional medicine. I do not know the botanical name of this fruits that still grow wild. It is really a sturdy plant that would grows everywhere, even on hard rocky soil. I took the images above on that trip last Sunday with the Kelab Volvo Klasik members. It indeed a beautiful flowers..

An exciting Sunday...

Well it is Sunday again. Another beautiful and sunny day indeed. This morning we folks from the Kelab Volvo Klasik Malaysia went for an outing to the countryside. We all met at the R & R at Sungei Buluh and then convoy along the country roads on a trip to nowhere. We were supposed to go to Kuala Kubu Bahru but with no real destinations we just follow the leader of the convoy. The trip took us back to the third world of a sorts where roads to my surprise still choke with traffic. We just follow without knowing where it lead us and at half way of the journey part of the convoy took a wrong turn, like the blind following the blind and eventually were told by the other half of the convoy via the cell phone that we were on the wrong road. Well, want can we do but just to turn back and try to trace where the other half of our gang are. Eventually we found them and then continue to proceed on this wonderful trip to nowhere.

We passes along old town and villages and got lost twice, had to do a U turn and eventually found out we were nearer to Kuala Lumpur then we thought. We are actually turning back using the old country roads. The road eventually took a turn to be better and the side of road were lush forest and clear water streams. With that we could felt the atmosphere cooler. We proceed on enjoying the ride and eventually found our friends who had waited for us from the north. With the local guiding us we eventually found a beautiful picnic spot. We drove on and parked our cars and got ourselves a spot beside a stream and enjoy a break of tropical fruits consist of Durian and Rambutan with cool soft drink.

I took the opportunity to take as much snap of images of various plants and sights that I would otherwise could not get in the city. It was nice to be back to nature again among the lush green of the tropical forest with running stream. With that backdrop we enjoy the Durian and Rambutan while yarning about a little bits of tale that us folks in our golden age could talks for hours. Our spouse were also with us so are young children of the younger member of our club. So to those kids it is a heaven with running stream. They did not waste their time and soon found to be enjoying swimming and flapping in the cool water of the stream under the watchful eyes of their parents. While the kids were enjoying their time splashing in the streams, the ladies were comparing notes with each other like all ladies do. Seeing the stream Oh! Boy I wished I had brought my swimming trunk or at least a short pants. Would love to enjoy a dip on this cool mountain stream. Friends that was the day...[Images about are some of that I took while at that picnic spot]... Enjoy...

Ampang Point..

Ampang Point is a new township. It served the people of Ampang Jaya, Taman Tun A.Razak and Taman Hijau.. It is a township that grew up in a hurry, just fifteen years and today a popular spot for folks that live around ten kilometer radius. It is always crowded with people. Parking cars has became a big problem, so if I want to do some banking and settle my bills at the TM Point or the BSN Bank, I had to be there just before ten in the morning. Parking lots would be full after ten in the morning but if you take your time to cruise along you would find one since not everyone park their car for long there. After doing their business there they would surely move. In the evening this place became a sort of another Bangsar, an eating garden of a sort for those that want dine in the evening..All the major fast foods outlet are there. So too are the Mamak Restaurant and Chinese food outlets. There are also a few fine dine places that great to have dinner with family or friends. A favorite of mine is the Secret Recipe...Ampang Point is my town now and I love to be there in the morning and wonder along. Sometime would settle for a Teh Tarik and Roti Canai at one of the Mamak Restaurant. Images above is the parking problem in the vicinity of the Shopping area...One of the indicator of prosperity, a country that is already in the first world category...
