In and around Boston...

Folks, it has been a hot day here in Boston. They say that there is heat wave on the east coast of the US. Yesterday it went up to 36 degree Celsius. Although we came from the tropic and are use to the hot and humid condition, we still felt the heat here in Boston. Anyway with the flowers blooming all around us, it in some ways does cool things down.

We are taking it easy doing some shopping and enjoy living here for a change of environment. The images above are those of Boston that I took during the weekend. Have a nice day.

  1. Pak Idrus,

I have not benn here for quite a while and it took sometime for me to read the postings.

Congratulations to your daughter. Getting a PhD is not an easy task, what more from an established institution like Harvard. Wow!

After I got my Master degree in 2001, I thought of pursuing my doctorate. But, somehow it never materialized. But, the dream is still there.

Have fun in Boston Pak Idrus. I never got the chance to visit that place when I studied in US. I heard it is very beautiful.

  3. Hi Pak Idrus ... It was so nice to chat with you over the phone the other day. My jaws ached a little from all the laughter.

I don't know about Louis but I am still wearing cold weather clothes in and out of the house. We had a couple of blistery nights and the usual lingering showers all week. The sun peeped out 2-3 times at most for less than half an hour.

I am glad you are enjoying Boston. It is one of my favorite cities, so rich in history, yet full of promises for the future.

I look forward to seeing you in a few weeks. :)

  6. I was wondering why I hadn't heard from you in a while, Idrus. Now I know why: the heat has gotten to you. Some nice cool weather awaits you over on this coast.

It always amuses me when some travel writer from the East Coast mentions "hot, steamy" weather in the Tropics. In the summer, the East Coast of the US is steamier than the Tropics. When I lived on the East Coast, nothing was more depressing than to hear a weather forecast for NYC predict "99F and 99% humidity". And such forecasts were frequent.

Note to Rita: you mean there's a difference in "cold weather clothes" and "warm weather clothes" in Seattle :) ? I'd better review my wardrobe :).
