My little Garden...

I love the greens thus I do gardening. It has been a passion of mine for a long times. I have always loved to be with nature. Even in my growing up days I would often go hiking in the woods with friends on the weekend. At time we would camp near a riverbank or at the seaside and enjoy nature at its best. And now living in the city where land area of our house is limited I had to do with whatever space I got in front and at the back of the house. At the back of the house we had a small garden of orchids, flowers and herbs while at the front of the patio I have created a small garden with greens and some flowers as seen above. It is my little Garden of Eden where I would spend my time tending to the plants and flowers.

Over times it has became an ecosystem of sorts where birds comes chirping from tree to tree. And small animals like squirrel and frogs would come to feeds on the food that I had laid in a small container on the top of the fence. A little brown squirrel would come daily to feed. It was elusive at first and now after many years it has became tamer and would continue to eat its meal when I am out at the patio. It was always nice to see this little creature chipping at the apples, at time sharing it with the ants and the birds that drop by from time to time.

Recently a tree frog has decided to turn one of the hanging flowerpots as its home and I love to see it squatting among the green leaves in the pot. It does make me happy to see these creatures making my little garden its home. There is a small fishpond at one side of the little garden where first roam freely in the clear water. I would feed these fish early in the morning.

With the greens of the plants which at time flowers the whole area in front of my patio became a hive of activities turning it into an ecosystem of sort.  The rich environment with fresh air and the cool green scene shows nature at its best. It gives me a mean to enjoy nature so close to our doorstep. Enjoying life as it goes in my golden years.

Have a nice day.       [Please click on the image to enlarge]

  1. I don't think I have green fingers..couldn't even looked after the small cactus ~ my attempt with them became a joke among my family, the cactus died(shrunk due to lack of water)..and I told my family, I forgot to water them but most times that I passed by them, I'd say my greetings..hehe..

And to come across squirrels and frogs would make me jump high and run..:-D

  4. Cheqna, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.

Well in anything we do we must have passion about it. Its the love of doing it that made the difference. In gardening I learned that it is not just about planting but most of all it about nurturing it all the way from the first roots to the flowers and the fruits. If we enjoyed the whole process then we would have made the plant happy and in return we would be happy as well.

I am not sure about this green thumb thing but I would advice you to give you plants more love instead of just watering it. It need attention and try doing that I am sure you would be as successful in gardening.

    Have a nice day.

  6. Al-Manar, Hassan thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts as well the good words on my gardening.

Well I love gardening and in that small space that I got I tried to do what I could to create that green that I so missed when I was growing up in the rural Kuantan. I gave nature the best I could and in return it gives me back happiness. What more could I ask for but be thankful for that.

    Have a nice day.

  7. Pak Idrus, your garden really has that "cooling" effect! The 3rd picture in that entry, is that "periuk kera" plant? It looks very healthy.

  8. Temuk, thanks for the visit and the good words on my kind of garden.

Well it is my small piece of heaven and a place that I am in close touch with nature and I am enjoying it.

Yes it is the 'Periuk Kera' plant. It an old plant with many 'periuk' and now it has two new 'anak' growing where that little frog love to squat and perhaps sleep the night. I have since cut the old plant to let the 'Anak' grow well. I have been nurturing this plant for years and it is only now that I began to see the 'Anak'growing there. Hopefully it would grow big and I could have more of it hanging in my little garden.

    Have a nice day.
