It has not rain for almost two weeks already and
the grass has begun to turn browns. Except for the heat the weather has been
fine. So I decided to get to the city and wander around. This time Bukit
Bintang was in my mind. I have been to the Pavilion, a sprawling mall there
many times but failed to venture farther to the old part of the Bukit Bintang.
So today I would just do that. I drove the Honda to the parking lot of the
Pavilion. Then went up to the food court for some bites and drink; I had Chow
Kuey Teow which taste good. It is one of my favorites Chinese food. Well, it is
Malaysian foods now. Go anywhere in the country and your would find this
nourishing Chinese food. Then went to walk along the pavement of Jalan Bukit
Bintang toward the Loy
Yat Plaza.
The intersection of Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan
Sultan Ismail is an interesting sight to wander and wonder. It is always throng
with of folks both local and tourists making their way to the other parts
of Jalan Bukit Bintang, where there are many shopping complex that cater for
all sort of businesses. This time I decided to stroll along with my camera and
catch a glance of the happening there. Jalan Bukit Bintang has change into one
mega-shopping complexes. Many of the shops houses and shopping malls on both
sides of the road had been renovated and face-lifted, turning the whole area
into a colorful and vibrant place. When evening comes this road would glitters
with colorful lights turning it into sort of a wonderland of its own.
To enjoy the day one either takes a slow walk on
the pavement under the blistering sun or in the cool and comforts of
air-conditioning through the shopping complexes. I decided to just take it easy
and wander along the sidewalk and enjoy the new scene that has changed so much
since my last visit there. It looks like a new place to me. And I am enjoying
it. I took a few snaps of the place and sharing it here for all to enjoy. It is
indeed a happening place of the city of Kuala
Lumpur which is famously know as the golden triangle.
From here one could even walk to the Petronas
Twin Tower
which could be seen if one just looks toward Jalan Sultan Ismail. Once in an
evening I did walk all the way to the KLCC. In the evening the places along
these roads look different with the glittering light of the streets. I did
enjoy the walk the last time I was there in the evening.
Today it was almost noon and I just take it easy
and walk a lazy walk along the pavement heading toward the Plaza Low Yat, the
mecca of electronic where anything electronics under the sun could be found
there. I went in and sure enough the place was already crowded with shoppers
and tourist alike. There are many shops and stalls selling almost the same
things and it always amazed me seeing the hives of activities going on where
folks haggled over price of goods that are sold in such a competitive
environment. I just browse around from floor to floor just for the fun of it
and eventually left the place and walk back town the Pavilion.
Out on the pavement I walk slowly watching the
scene of tourists enjoying themselves of this piece of Malaysia, my
homeland. I got into the food court at the Pavilion and sat to enjoy a drink
while surfing the Net using my iPad. After looking at Facebook and wrote a few
comments on friend's wall I decided to call it a day. Took the Honda and drove
home happy with my little excursion into the old part of the city call Bukit
Bintang.
By the way folks; Bukit is Hill and Bintang is
Star in English. Perhaps in the old days when this place was just a village
folks would gaze at the sky against the backdrop of the hills nearby and saw
the glittering stars up above, thus the place is call Bukit Bintang.
Have a nice day. [Please click on image to enlarge]
The Low Yat Plaza is really a haven for lovers of electronic gadgets.I love looking at camera accessories, especially lenses, wherever I go to. When I am lucky the salesmen will entertain my questions or even show me the lenses that I like. But there are those who 'layan tak-layan', may be because they think that I just want to ask them questions instead of really buying their products. Salam.
ReplyDeleteI envy you my friend. Believe it or not I cannot remember how many YEARS agi I last visited that area which I used to haunt at one time twenty years ago! Maybe, I say maybe, I will get one of my children to take me there. I would not want to get stuck there not knowing how to get out.
ReplyDeleteSometime we could walk through an area our whole life without noticing a thing.just by changing our perception and think differently , a visit to the local barber shop could reveal a myriad of experiences.i had been following your blog for quite some time and i could notice that you had an interesting view n perception towards your surrounding.your garden seems full of interesting things that you share almost on daily basis.life is full of enriching experience if we open up .
ReplyDeleteI should take your advice, enjoying places by taking slower paces, enjoy the surroundings ~ most of the time I speed walk like pepatah "lipas kudung"..hehe..
ReplyDeleteI'm not really fond of the area but last time I passed by Bukit Bintang was two Saturdays ago..I was doing my tourist activity - on hop on hop off bus.. :-)
Temuk, Thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting especially about the Loy Yat Plaza.
ReplyDeleteYes a whole building of anything electronic and of course camera and its accessories. Like you I do photography and always like to find out the new lenses on photography.
One experiences with salesperson could be describe as colorful, at time enjoyable and at time just disgusting. Well a good salesperson would always leave you a happy person whether you buy his product of not. Of course there are those who would put a sour face once you say you are not buying it. I have been in that situation before and would just let passed and would not allows it to get it to me. Since I am the one who is going to part with my ringgit. Well that is life and we all have to take the bad and the good as we move along.
Have a nice day.
Al-Manar, Hassan thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.
ReplyDeleteWell not to worry if you are in town I would personally take you for a walk there. We would just take it easy solo and enjoy the new environment of Bukit Bintang. Perhaps relived some of our past there.
Have a nice day.
xplorer, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting. And thanks as well for the good words on my kind of blogging.
ReplyDeleteI love to write and blogging let me do just that. At this age I take thing easy and try to enjoy every moments of my life thus I take great interest of my surrounding. In the past when I was working time was not at my command and most of the time I would just see things in passing but now that time is mine and at my command I am using it to my advantage, thus you saw in my writing on small things or happening that happens in front of my eyes which otherwise I would not given a second look when I was busy in the past. Now with all the time in the world every things around me became a part of the beautiful world that I live. I saw more of my surrounding than before and found it to me more colorful and full of lives as well.
I write about all these thing so that others may share with my joys in the happening as I move on in life. At this age one see things differently and I am loving it. Glad that you did enjoy my posting.
Have a nice day.
Cheqna, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.
ReplyDeleteWell when we are in a rush or driving along any places we do not really get to see the happening in detail. We often get a glimpse of it and at time we hardly notice the happening. By taking it easy like walking one would notice more along the pathways which we would otherwise would not have notice at all. So do that I believe me you would surely enjoy your visit to any place, even a place that you had been before.
Have a nice day.
