Of August and Me..

Folk, August is a special month to me for it was in this month that I was born. The year was 1939 and the date August 17. So accordingly to the year, month and date I am now seventy years old today. I am as healthy as ever and enjoying life as I goes along. With such a wonderful spouse, great kids and grand kids I am one happy man enjoying life in my golden years.

Last year I received a wonderful Birthday Card from my kids and grand kids. I believe the card is a collective project of the grand kids, five of them and from the look of it they must have done lots of thinking and times planning and getting it done, an elaborate one indeed; one of a kind that one could never get at the bookshop.

As you could see in the image above they do know what grandpa love to do at this juncture of his life and they did said it all in this wonderful collage of sort. I was extremely happy and trilled to get it and kept it as one of the special Birthday Card that I had ever had. So folk that is what living is all about and I am indeed happy to have such a wonderful family full of loves.

My advice to all those out there, enjoy life; do live in the present for the present would be with us but for a few seconds only and then it would be the past. The future we are yet to know and today is yesterday's future. So do live in the present and enjoy every seconds of it for it would soon be the past. The present is a gift and we all love gift, so do treasure it as we move along in life, for life is like that. Enjoy it for you are not going to travel that path again. Another thing folks; do gives love and be thankful for what you have got. Enjoy and Have a nice day.

  24. headsteadi, thanks for the visit and the Birthday wishes as well on the good words on Me.

Well that image of me was taken in February this year and if I do not look my age of 70 it is because I live an active life. I read a lot, blog a lot, enjoy good food, travel, kept active in my hobby of gardening and photography. I do have a open mind and do not believe in myth and superstition. My breakfast has always be the same; two soft boiled egg, a glass of Ensure and a cup black coffee without failed. I now avoid dairy products.

I do not talk about religion but just be a good person always and live in the present, not yesterday or tomorrow and I always enjoy whatever I did. To summarized; I kept a healthy mind always and enjoy living.

Have a nice day and take care.

  26. Ms B, thanks for the visit and the Birthday wishes, much appreciated.

Well we should never underestimate the wisdom of the kids of the present generation. They have more knowledge then kids of my generation had, so that is why I was not surprise when they presented me with that Birthday Card. See they watch us and knew what we like, thus that card.

I believe your young lady is the same, perhaps more observant, been living in a more advance society.

I and indeed happy that the generation of my kids and grand kids are better then my generation.

Thanks as well for the good words on my kind of living. I did enjoy life and would continue to do so as I move along on the journey of life.

    Have a nice day.

Roaming about the blogsphere I finally arrive here. August is important to you because it is the month you celebrate your birthday and it is important to the Indonesians who celebrate their independence. Of course it is our Merdeka anniversary as you have nicely and briefly outlined.
August is also important to me. It is our 45th wedding anniversary. In age I am older than you by a couple of years, not much but it is enough for me to address you as Adik Idrus, rather than Pak Idrus. May I, much belated, wish you a happy birthday. How many 70-year bloggers there are I wonder. You are in a better position to judge as you seem to be a seasoned one at it.
    Pakcik

  32. Al-Manar, thanks you Sir for the visit and sharing your thought on the subject of this posting. Thanks so much for that Birthday wishes, much appreciated.

Yes August is special to me for my birthday fall on the day Indonesia gain it independence on August 17. We are a very lucky generation indeed for we saw the country develop from day one of independence and I am concerned as to where we are heading especially so with the political party that had been ruling the country ever since still refused to reform itself despite a reminder from the rakyaat.

As for using Pak Idrus, I did that when I first start to blog some six years ago. Since I was among the oldest in blogsphere at that time, I had to find a suitable way, Pakcik does not sound as good like Pak Idrus, thus I stick to Pak Idrus so that those who visit my blog know that I am a senior. Sir it is alright to address be as Pak Idrus or whatever you may think right since you are an Abang to me.

Have a nice day and take care.
