The Kuala Terengganu P036 by-election...PAS won...

Folks, March 8, 2008 saw the change in the political scenario of the country when five states and/plus the Federal Territory of KL went to the then opposition party of PAS, PKR and DAP [In the FT 10 of 11 Parliament seat went to the Pakatan] and then it was followed with the success of the PKR at Permatang Pauh where Anwar Ibrahim won big and back into Parliament. These three political parties are now known as the Pakatan. In the March 8, 2008 the BN lost its two third majorities for the first time in the history of the country. The BN have been ruling the country for fifty one years. It is a rather record number of years for any single party to rule a country. And in the March 8, 2008 Election the Rakyaat did change that scenario by giving the Pakatan some 49.4 percent of the vote and denying the two third majority that was enjoyed by BN ever since. With that change it gives the once opposition party more say in the Malaysian Parliament.

And yesterday January 17, 2009 PAS a member of the Pakatan collation won the by-election for the Kuala Terengganu with a majority of 2631 votes. In the March 8, 2008 Election PAS lost this seat by a mere 628 votes. This shows that the tsunami that swept the Political scenario on March 8, 2008 has not stopped. To me it is good for the country for we are sure heading for a two party system in the not too distance future. Yes, in a democracy no single party should lay claim to be the government of the country forever. It is the Rakyaat [People] that would decide which party should be the ruler. So for this by-election the Rakyaat has decided. Folks let give due respect to the choice of the folk from Kuala Terengganu. Congratulation to PAS and the collation, the Pakatan. Have a nice day. 3. Dear PI,

I am glad that PAS have won and they gave credits to others' effort too.

A two party system would optimise the distribution of resources and the rakyat can have more say in their leaders' conduct.

Just like PP's by-election, I can enjoyed the real time monitoring in comfort from nomination until the official result is out. I dont have to rely on the MSMs anymore as I think they are inefficient in giving us the ample coverage.

    Have a nice day.

  4. all-in-one, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting. Like you I am glad that PAS won this by-election. It shows that the Malaysian society has matured in the political aspect of their lives. It is good for the country. With a two party system we can really show who is the real master in a democracy. We the people.

As for the MSM it has already lost its credibility in the providing the real News to the people. I no longer read or watch it. Lucky for us now we have an alternative media or the New Media i.e. Blog, You tube and Twitter.

    Have a nice day.

  6. Salam Pak Idrus,

PAS' win in Kuala Terengganu is no surprise at all. We called up our relatives in KT (all Chinese, mind!) and asked them if they've voted. Of course they did, came the reply, and of course they voted PAS!

I think this will last as long as anti-BN sentiments remain high, but I hope PR will not become cocky or quarrelsome and will work hard to bring improvements to the areas that really matter.

Take care and have a good week!

Certainly agree with you, Pak. As long as i live, 20 years, I've yet to know of any democratic country being governed by same party for a half decade.

    Or am i wrong?

Like you I expect PAS to win for the tsunami of March 8,2008 has not stop. It just pause and I am right on that. I believe it would bash again and we would see more changes as we progress toward the next General Election. It would be good for the country if we have a change in the government after fifty one year. That would be real democracy and it would be good for Malaysian and our future.

As for Pakatan we have to give them time and like any political party they would learn along the way. That is my hope for the future of our country.

    Have a nice day.

  10. mutalib saifuddin, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on this subject.

I am indeed glad that you at such a tender age of 20 years old believe of what a true democracy is. It is us the people that became the ruler and the political party is just the tool to get the job done and not the other way around. So it is up to the rakyaat to made that choice of who should be the ruler.

I believe your generation would be seeing more changes in the coming years and that would be good for the country and its people. You could contribute to advancement of the country by been knowledgeable and that mean studying with a goal to succeed.

The future of this country is in the hand of your generation and I am optimistic that your generation would take this country into a better future.

    Have a nice day.
