Of Angels @ Merry Christmas...

As usual during this time of the year the shopping malls in the Kuala Lumpur and other cities all over the country would be decorated with a Christmas theme; turning it and the surrounding area into a riot of color that smells Christmas.

We made a visit to the new mall, the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and saw that the organising folks have added a new element to the atmosphere of the decoration. They have brilliantly introduce angels that mingle with the shoppers and willingly pose for picture with them, thus creating an atmosphere of joy and happiness among the shoppers. In the past the decoration was without a human face, the introductions of these angels create a new dimension in the concept of decoration for a festival. The presence of those lovely angels, smiling doing their part in creating an atmosphere of love do made the difference to the thousand of shoppers that frequent this mall. As usual shoppers which include tourists from other countries were happy to pose with those gorgeous angels.

I got them to pose for a snap and this includes a pose with Asmah my other half. Introducing these gorgeous angels are something new to a festival promotion in shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur. Indeed a new cultural element taking the promotion of a festival likes Christmas shopping into another level. Making the pomp and splendour of the Christmas decoration in this mall into another dimension. An atmosphere of joy and happiness for all. A great job indeed.

Merry Christmas to all from Asmah and me in Malaysia. May we all continue to prosper and enjoy life. Have a nice day.

We went to a mall over the weekend as well but no angels were spotted. People are rushing for their christmas gifts. Regent and Oxford st are decorated every year. i love the christmas display by some of the shops. Very creative!

    Happy holidays!

ps: I am not sure whether Mdm Asmah or the angel was more excited to get their picture taken. *smiles*

  3. Ms B, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the joy of Christmas shopping. I guess it is the same all over the world. Christmas has been commercialized to such an extend that one at time does not related to the significant of the true spirit of Christmas. It is indeed a time to shop and in that enjoy life to the fullest.

As for that pose of Asmah and the angel I am not that sure who is more excited. Just let me relate how it got to the pose. After the others has pose for picture I ask my other half and the angle to pose so that I could photograph them. She obliged with such excitement on seeing a 'nenek', thus you can see the excitement of the face of both. Well, it do made our day.

Have a nice day and enjoy the Christmas there in your home in London. Take care.

  5. Just dropping by for a visit from the link you left on Zaharan's FB Wall. Those are great photos! It's good that you are in the holiday spirit already! My office is within walking distance of Pavillion but I haven't even been there yet. Been too busy with work and volunteering and everything.
Happy Holidays to you and all at home.

  6. Christmas too is not immune from the excesses of commercialism.. with the malls all over Klang Valley trying to outdo each other in the decoration department. But this year seems a little 'muted' I think - what with the present economic scenario - as compared to years' past. Ah well, life goes on. Have a nice holidays Pak with the kids and grandkids. I'm spending mine on a 30-year old rusted junk in the Straits of Makassar with intermittent internet access. See you next year, Pak.

  8. Mat Salo, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.

Indeed now all religious festival have been commercialized. Well that is capitalism and in a way it does the society some good. The more money circulates the better the economy is, so it is indeed wise to go shopping from time to time. I love shopping and enjoy doing it. I believe we all should enjoy whatever we are doing now and that includes shopping.

You have a somewhat an interesting job and at your age you should be enjoying doing whatever you do for you are on that part of the journey of live only once. So do make hays while the sun shine. There are no reasons that you could not enjoy the happening in the barge of yours. Be merry and enjoy life to the fullest.

    Have a nice day.

  10. There is an expression of joy in your write-up of X’mas celebration with angels and all. You and wife wished all a merry X’mas. It is nice to read that. You also have a posting on Eid. It is rather short and the ‘turkey’, if I am not mistaken, is a special dish for X’mas in UK. That is nice too. Somehow I fail to find ‘selamat hari raya’ to all Malaysians. I am sure you and family meant that. Should something be done to make people; especially the non-muslims feel the joy of Hari Raya? I just wonder.

  11. Pak Idrus,
The Angels are sooo beautiful and fairy like. The one with Kak Asma was so tall.
Using the D90 must be real joy as the pictures are so good. I am glad you bought that model.

  12. That photo of Asmah with the angel is amazingly symbolic.

Re Ayah Ngah's comment above, I, a non-Muslim, can attest to having experienced innumerable instances of the joy of Hari Raya in KL and Penang. I have learned a lot about Hari Raya and gotten to appreciate its significance, thanks to the public and private efforts of Malaysia and its people.

The posts of several Malaysian bloggers about Hari Raya have been particularly informative and compelling too.

  14. Ayah Ngah, Thank you Sir for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting. Appreciate you honest comments.

Since I found blogging in 2003 I have never look back but enjoy doing it everyday of my lives. It has been an enjoyable means of getting through my day in this golden age. Blogging gives me the satisfaction of giving what I could at this age and that is sharing my thoughts or the two sen worth!! with the world, hopping it would do made some differences.

In the course of my blogging I made many friends first in cybersphere but later on in the real world. I hope that we could meet over coffee in the not too distance future.

As for the Raya or the Eid Fitri/Adha posting I have wrote almost every year about it from the time I first start blogging in 2003. And has always made greeting to all irrespective of his/her race for I believe that such festival celebration cut across creed, color or other cultural barrier. We Malaysian are a blessed folks who got the opportunity to celebrate all the great festival and that I believe contribute to the unity of our citizen.

    Have a nice day.

  15. Zawi, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.

Yes, when I first photograph her [the angel] alone I did not notice her height but when I took that image of her with Asmah, only then that I notice how tall she is. Indeed her height gives her that elegant pose. Yes, they are such gorgeous angels. Their friendliness toward shoppers add a new dimension in the shopping culture at the mall.

As for the Images, yes the D60 do help a lots.

    Have a nice day.

As you must have notice Malaysian are by nature a friendly folks and because of it that festival celebration do made impact to all especially to those non Malaysian who visit the country from time to time. I am indeed glad that you felt that way, that Louis is the heart of Malaysian and a sincere one too.

Have a nice day. Merry Christmas.

  17. I guess Christmas this year is rather 'silent'; at least here in Kuantan. Don't know how it was though. But hey, I see that things over there in KL goes like usual, the full throttle; the way festivities being celebrated by all :)
Ah, I miss this part of KL :D

  18. Akmal, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the happening in Kuantan.

Well, one can't compare KL and Kuantan for Kuantan is but a small town and KL a huge city. Maybe you have to look or ask friends as to how folks in Kuantan celebrate their Christmas. Surely there are parties somewhere to celebrate Christmas. Anyway the celebration at the Bintang Walk as always has been great. Do be here next festive season.

    Have a nice day.
