It was one aspect of the California economy and it gives us all those great oranges.

Well, things has changed and now they simply built houses and get folks into debt. Today California is sort of a failed state and bankrupt but still America want to pour money into the war machine.

As for the Mexican laborer, we all know that they are the cheap labor for those landlord. My nephew in Huston says that without the Latino labor most of the house would be unkempt.

Anyway do have a nice day.Pak Idrushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05420141407304142741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5803753.post-73530662582651276682010-04-23T21:14:37.554+08:002010-04-23T21:14:37.554+08:00This is a comment from Louis.http://louis-hopscotc...This is a comment from Louis.http://louis-hopscotch.blogspot.com/: Due to some glitch the comment was not automatically posted here. So I have copy and paste it here:-

Louis has left a new comment on your post "That Oranges...":

Having once lived in a political entity called "Orange County", and as a large consumer of orange juice, I applaud your tribute to oranges and the orange industry.

Orange County, California, was indeed covered extensively by orange groves when I first moved there, but they have progressively given way to more lucrative housing development. Sharifah recently blogged about the current status of the citrus industry there, as you have seen (http://buildingbridgesworld.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/musings-in-april-citrus-county/).

I have seen those poorly paid workers, in California, mostly Mexican immigrants, toiling in those orchards. It is a very hard life.http://louis-hopscotch.blogspot.com/Pak Idrushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05420141407304142741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5803753.post-86149136457435841782010-04-23T19:11:10.730+08:002010-04-23T19:11:10.730+08:00Temuk, thanks for the visit and the good words on ...Temuk, thanks for the visit and the good words on the subject of this posting. Indeed we all must appreciate all the hard works by everyone in getting the foods to our table. Without those chain of events it would not be possible to get that done.

Even if we were to grow our own food, there are so many steps that had to be taken in order to get that food from planting to the tables. Here in the case of just one example, it does take lots of labor to get thing done. So it is only proper that we give some thoughts to all the happening especially in the production of food for our consumption.

Sir, thanking those folks is one way of telling those folks that we do appreciate what they have done for us.

I am indeed glad that you are with me on this one. Take care.Pak Idrushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05420141407304142741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5803753.post-81259476244996780952010-04-23T11:52:10.704+08:002010-04-23T11:52:10.704+08:00Salam Pak Idrus
That's a great way of looking ...Salam Pak Idrus
That's a great way of looking at things around us, and a good reminder for us too, not to take take things for granted in life. Yes, nothing exists in a vacuum. Something is always functionally interlinked with something else, and with something else, at differing degrees & levels and with different ends. Those juicy orange slices should remind us, among other things, of the need for us to relate with the environment in a manner that would enable the environment itself to continously produce the succulent oranges that we love. Have a nice day!Temukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02967943666125362059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5803753.post-1301133887754694982010-04-23T10:27:36.945+08:002010-04-23T10:27:36.945+08:00~Covert_Operations'78~, Ee Lynn thanks for the...~Covert_Operations'78~, Ee Lynn thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting.

There is an old Chinese saying 'When you drink from a cup, never forget that the water came from a stream some where'. I do that all the time and really appreciate all the efforts put by those farmers to get all the goodies onto our table.

Just think for a second the hard works the fisherman had to go through in the open sea in his small boat just to made a living and we get to enjoy that fish that he caught.

As for our living standard, yes agreed we need to understand that we have everything here and that part must be given due recognition.

Have a nice day.Pak Idrushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05420141407304142741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5803753.post-70442433637637321782010-04-22T17:18:57.564+08:002010-04-22T17:18:57.564+08:00Thank you, Pak Idrus, for reminding us to apprecia...Thank you, Pak Idrus, for reminding us to appreciate those who made it possible for us to have food on our tables, appliances in our homes, lights and fans at the flick of a switch and different modes of transportation each day. I never realised how spoiled for choice we Malaysians were until I became housemates with some young people from Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan. They had never seen peanut butter until they came to Malaysia. I have always loved oranges and am glad there are people who made oranges available to us.~CovertOperations78~https://www.blogger.com/profile/05533605886607468773noreply@blogger.com
