Well, these visitors have every right to be there since we are actually the invader of their land. Anyway for a common cause let share the space by respecting and understanding. The presence of these wonder animals and insects surely makes our life more colorful and interesting. Lives would surely be dull without the presence of other species in our midst. Lo and behold, perched on a branch in the corner of our property was a possum. Possums are regarded as pests here in Melb, looking like an oversized rat (size of a cat),nocturnal in nature and chews up plants and fruits. Infact we have a nectarine tree and the possums tends to get to the fruits before we do. It is a nightmare if one ever gets into your house. Nonetheless, it's a protected species here and it's illegal to poison or trap them yourselves!!! Thought I'll share this with you since we are on the topic of "visitors" to our house. Have a good day.Cliffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13490758687024718750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5803753.post-55463934689588323572007-02-28T10:17:00.000+08:002007-02-28T10:17:00.000+08:00Cliff, thanks for the visit. Well these birds are parts of the Eco system, we need them as they need us to keep our blue marble well balanced. For our species to survived we have to share. Indeed, I would surely feed the bird if they come regularly, like that elusive squirrel that I fed with apples daily. These boxes were pretty shallow and uncovered, placed on a raised wooden platform under a tree for shade. One day I started to notice that my fishes seem to be dwindling in numbers, wondering who the culprit someone could be stealing them! Then one fine morning I saw this kingfisher perched on a branch just above my fish tanks ......Cliffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13490758687024718750noreply@blogger.com
