Another beautiful day...The sea and us...

I am in Malacca today.. It is a beautiful Sunday morning..The weather look great with blue sky and patches of white clouds hovering above the horizon. And when evening comes, the same horizon turn golden in color when the sun set at the base of the dark gray horizon... It is a sight that always give me that great feeling always... At this period of the year the sea is calm and the beach doted with picnickers with their families enjoying the weekend.. Their kids seem to have a great time with the beach and the sea, like most kids do.. Our species seem to love the water especially the sea.. I believe this is in our gene since we all evolves from the sea and we would somehow take some time to return to the sea. Even for a moment to dip our feet on to the cold salty water and felt that feeling of been part of us..

Last week our grandchildren with their parents was here staying at the condo and enjoying their weekend at the beach..They had not been here for some time and had been going for holiday at other places.. One reason that they had not come here is because this condo complex was left by the former management in a lurch and therefore was not maintenance properly as a resort But now with the new management the resort is almost back like before, thus it was only proper that our children and grandchildren came back to use this apartment as their own... After coming back from staying at this condo, our two youngest grandchildren, commented that they had a great time there and want to go there again.. I told them that the apartment belong to them and that they could spend their time there any time..And they say Hurray!!!... Kids are kids and that's what lovable about them..The elder of the grand's are teenagers and have been here before and love the place as well..Anwar the elder boy love the place because of the sea fronts and a place to relax and be in his world of computer game, for here we also have the service of broadband as well..The whole country is geared for all kind of broadband tools. The latest they are testing is the wireless broadband service for a whole town, so in the near future we could just get connected without the need of a fix-line telephone like I have now in KL an Malacca..

The main reason I had to be here this week is to attend the first meeting of the committee of the Owner's Association of which I am the deputy chairman of the Association...We planned for the meeting to be at 2pm on Sunday and before that I invited all the committee to lunch at our apartment... Just a simple lunch of the Malaysian favorite Nasi Lemak.. After that lunch we had the first committee meeting and it lasted until four thirty in the evening....

Well it was a great day in the week and now we are just resting for the weekend here...

The Cell Phone and the SMS ....

We communicate because we want others to know or to get the message[s]. I use the English language to blog because I communicate much easier in this language, the language the I was taught in my schools days during the colonial era.. I did not blog in the Malay language for the simple reason that its get limited audience.. Writing in English, the global language today, my blog is understood by most people across the globe... Since I start to blog some three years ago, I am indeed happy that people who visited my blog do in a way enjoy reading my thoughts..

With the advance in technology, communication had been made easy by the inventions of new tools like the internet and the cell phone.. With the cell phone a new mean of communication has evolved in what we now call the SMS or MMS. .I believe today we are comfortable to communicate via the SMS that we could do using our cell phone... When we want to share joke, we sent it via SMS and when we want to communicate messages that are not that urgent or business cards, we just sent it using an SMS.. In using SMS we have created over times a new vocabularies that might look Greek to those of us who had never use SMS.. We write 4 U 2 C when using SMS to mean For you to See or we just say BTW to mean By the way.. We us symbol like (:-(: or :(] in our message to add humor to the message. And among peer group we create special code to mean whatever the group want it to means... Because of the SMS, the vocabulary we use has change from the real spelling according to the dictionary to a short vocabulary that we create over times as we go along using SMS like we use 'r' for are, we use 'd' for the, we use 4 to mean for, we use 2 to mean to and to say tomorrow we just write 2moro, we use 'n' to mean and, when we write we hv 2 miss d pati to mean we have to missed the party and so on. Someone somewhere would create a new SMS vocabulary and symbol to send meaning over the cell phone using SMS... And my dear friends it is fun and we do get the message across without much fuss.. Now that we could us MMS, we could send images as well with our SMS and this add a new dimension to the way we communicate using the cell phone, other then using our voice like we normally do when speaking over the phone.

Well friends our world has progress fast and for us who live during this period of our history we are seeing changes in the way we communicate over the telephone that we had never dream it would be possible. But because of the ingenuity of our scientists and technologies we are now provided with a new tools...The cell phone, an invention of our time, that have transformed our life forever and with that making life as beautiful as ever... Thus the Cell Phone has today became an extension of ourselves... We now just could not leave home without it...Have a nice day.

Getting a Malaysian Passport....

Our old Passports had expired and because we often travel overseas or go to the southern neighbor state, Singapore, we need to have our Passport valid all the times...So on May 16, 2006 we went to the Immigration Department at Damansara Town Center to renew our Passport.. They do not renew Passport now. We had to get a new one at the time of renewal as they want a new set of Photo for the New Passport...I believe this is all because of Security, the concern of every countries nowadays....

We left home at just past nine and arrived there twenty minutes later.. Parked the car at the basement and went through the ritual of getting the New Passport...First we got the Application Form for RM1.00 each [RM3.60 =US$1.00], then make copies of our Identity Card [MyKad], After that went to get two copies of our photos at the Instance Photo Machine, it cost us RM7.00 for a set of two each...We had to wait five minutes before the Photo is done..While waiting...I got both forms, mine and my spouse filled with the detail and then duly signed...By then the Photos are ready..We went in to the counter and was eventually usher to the special counter for the Senior Citizen at counter 26..Well at this counter we senior citizen were given the golden treatment with a special numbering to wait for the number to be call...We then wait for our number and eventually after about twenty minutes our numbers were called and shown on the screen of the electronic notice board...We handed our forms together with our ICs and Photos and had our right thumbprint impression on the form..And then we had to get our thumb impression both the right and the left thumb onto the computer via a computer imprint terminal... Voila..The first part of the process is done...We were told the same number would be call again for the next part of the issuing of the Passport..So we wait...We sat and watch the number been call and the images of the number appear on the electronic notice board as in the images above..Soon our numbers were call and we proceed to counter No. 28..There we made payment of RM300.00 each and got a receipts each and told to come tomorrow after eight in the morning to collect our new Passports...

So the next day, early morning of May 17th, we went back to the Immigration Department and within fifteen minutes we got our New Passport...Well it look like our Immigration Department did gave us citizen a great service. They are real efficient..Today like every other days I am told hundreds of Malaysian crowd this Immigration office to get their Passport..As we all know with prosperity Malaysian travel the world, thus the need for the Passport...Thanks to the great works of the Immigration Officers, I got my new Passport in a whisk!..Just in less then twenty four hours we got our New Passport...It is the policy of the Malaysian Immigration Department to cut red tapes and issue New Passport within a day. And now not only us senior citizen got it fast but everyone got their New Passport the next day as well...That's what I call an efficient Service by a government agency...What a way to go Malaysian... Have a nice day...

Now that you know!!!!

Friends, I received this in the mail today and since it has to do with our species, I am sharing this with everyone... Have a nice day...

On the first day, God created the dog and said: "Sit
all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone
who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you
a life span of twenty years."

The dog said: "That's a long time to be barking. How
about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said:
"Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For
this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span."

The monkey said: "Monkey tricks for twenty years?
That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give
you back ten like the Dog did?"

And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said: "You
must go into the field with the farmer all day long
and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to
support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you
a life span of sixty years."

The cow said: "That's kind of a tough life you want me
to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll
give back the other forty?"

And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created man and said: "Eat,
sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll
give you twenty years."

But man said: "Only twenty years? Could you possibly
give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the
ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave
back; that makes eighty, okay?"

"Okay," said God, "You asked for it."

So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep,
play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we
slave in the sun to support our family. For the next
ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the
grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on
the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

A week in passing....

Well to tell the truth I am not sure of what to write today... It is sometime like that, just like the real world that we live in... It was a rather hectic week, last weekend I went to Malacca to attend the AGM [Annual General Meeting]of the MMBR [Merak Melaka Beach Resort], the annual meeting and to meet the other owners and also to elect a new set of committee for the year 2006 -2007..It went well and at this meeting I was elected as the Deputy Chairmen of the Association... With that responsibility, OK then I would have lots to do to keep me busy helping to put this resorts of ours in a proper order...Perhaps to its former glory.... Lets leave this subject at that for a while...

And yesterday's evening at the Ampang Point Mall I met this young script writer, the son of a friend..Deen is his name, a young chap whose life revolve around the makes belief world of the Movie..He write script for drama made for The TV...An Artist of a sorts..A young man full of imaginations and like me a great seeker of the freedom of expression. We sat over drink at the corner stall and whilst the time talking on things of common interest of us writers.. We writers have one thing is common in that our brain never seem to stop thinking of thoughts, some wild as the burst of the volcanoes and some as cool as the water of the mountain streams. He just got another job to create a thirty episodes of TV drama script for the local television Station...What an achievement for this young chap, whose name often appear as the Script writer of some local TV drama that I happen to watched... Sometime!!! I am indeed delighted to have known this young writer, Like me we are really full of zest for wanting to do change to the society..But then as we all knows too well it is not that easy to change society..He had the mean to do just that via his script and I told him that he should find the means and ways to try to promote positive thinking in the society through his script...He did said He do try from time to time, despite the constrain imposed by rules provided by the TV station. I told him that I did social change programs for more the thirty years and it had not been easy but when you see success, you can feel the satisfaction, the feeling of having succeeded in changing the society's attitude in a certain area.

Oh yes! I just remember of what happen after the meeting in Malacca..The next morning I went for a walk on the beach in front of our condo...The trees have grown tall and it provide shade for the picnicker and a great place to just sit and let your imagination run wild and keep your imagine open to all possibilities...The sea, the horizons and the view of the sea would surely provide lots of opportunities to jolt your thinking...I took a slow walk and watch the fishermen with their daily chore..These young fishermen are actually doing what their parents had been doing before and before that their forefather did..It is sorts of a continuing and an ongoing process...The fisherman and the sea...These brave people who risks their life so that we may have fish on our table are indeed a rare breed of people...I salute them and thanks them for their great contribution to our species... I chat with one of the fisherman and seek his permission to take some images of them and their boat, thus the images above... I was born and grew up along the coastal area of the east coast town of Kuantan, with the China sea just a few kilometers away, so the sea was a part of my growing up years...Never a week that I did not go out to swim or camp near the shore of the beaches..On the East Coast the sea shore are glitter with golden sands and the sea is deep, making it great to swim, unlike the sea front on the west coast especially the beach near our condo at Pantai Putri. I love the sea and the smell it bring as the wind blows inward... It so refreshing and the horizon always changes, just like a postcard, except that the scene on this postcard keep changing throughout the days, with the scene at the end of day, just before the sun set, so glorious and colorful that it worth the wait to watch the slow disappearing of the evening sun, yonder at the base of the horizons..The scene is simply fantastic, a colorful and gorgeous scene that changes all the times...I watch this wonder of creation every evening when I stayed at our condo in Malacca.. A picturesque site indeed!!!...

Malacca is special in that it is the oldest state in the Malaysian Federation.. In the fourteen century its port were the busiest on this part of the world, where traders from all over the word stop to do commerce and trade..Today it remains a very attractive place to visit..Wondering in the old parts of the city of Malacca would transport oneself back in times to the days of an era gone by... The remains of the Portuguese old fort still stand there. Together with those buildings that stood with times that still stand magnificently, makes one to wonder of the happening during its golden years as a trading port.. I love to walk along the narrow streets of the old part of the city and wonder with my mind, care less of what's happening around me...At the weekend certain section of the old parts of the city are alive with traders doing their business along the pathways..A walk among the crowds or just to sit and have a drink at the side stall or cafe would be worth the visit...A colorful scene indeed.... Friends...That was the week that goes by... Have a nice day...

Making our Parliament as colorful as ever...Indeed an interesting development eh!!... Have a nice day.
